Who We Are
Our Focus
"Gender violence" is a term used to describe sexual assault, domestic abuse, dating violence, stalking, and human trafficking. Gender violence is interconnected to, and sustained by, systemic oppression. In turn, our focus is both gender violence and systemic oppression.
We strive to protect and support people who face acute risks and impacts of gender violence - like women, girls, and gender-oppressed people who may be transgender, gender non-conforming, non-binary, 2 Spirit, and/or Muxes peoples — as well as acute risks and impacts of systemic oppression — like those who are targeted by racism, transphobia, heterosexism, xenophobia, ableism, religious prejudice, classism, and other forms of oppression.
In our focus, we acknowledge the historical arch of violence and oppression (macro), but we also recognize how history shapes and is shaped by the individual (micro).
